Tequila

There is a charming, historical town known as Tequila located in the western state of Jalisco, Mexico.  It is here where the infamous spirit was created.

It is an hour from the capital city of Guadalajara and 3 hours from the beautiful port city of Puerto Vallarta. It is known for producing the famous beverage that was founded over 500 years ago.  The town’s name originates from the Nahuatl words tecuilan or tequillan, which means a place of work or cutting; in the area the people were called Tecuilas.

In the past 20 years, Tequila has witnessed an increase in visitors due to a rising interest in rural and cultural tourism. In 2003, the town received the title Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) due to its legends, history, and customs, such as crafting the traditional Mexican spirit, tequila.  Jose Cuervo has responded to this influx of national and international guests by offering The Door to the World of Tequila, which includes several world-class experiences:

Jose Cuervo Express Train
