Los Cabos Today, Safer Than Ever!

Los Cabos implemented a five-point action plan to enhance security in the resort city. As part of the plan, Mexico’s elite force of the Marines took command of the state and municipal police in Los Cabos in November 2017 and are leading a cohesive security program. The first phase of a new Marine base that will serve as a mission control center was completed in April, 2018. Los Cabos has also activated 200 new police personnel, who were trained and evaluated at a police academy in Mexico City. At the same time, the Mexican Navy and The Los Cabos Hotel Association have created an anonymous Citizen Crime Report to encourage information sharing with authorities. Sr. Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, also described their new surveillance system effort that involved installation of more than 200 cameras, which the Marines use for monitoring crime. As a result of all of these efforts and more, there has been a 90 percent drop in crime to date in 2018.

In remembrance of Dr. Kenneth L Stein MD: (May 6th, 1954 – July 18th, 2018 )

The MIE family unfortunately lost one its founding partners, Dr. Ken Stein to a battle with cancer. Dr. Stein MD was a board-certified plastic surgeon in Chicago and member of many prestigious medical associations as well as being part of the MIE family. Dr. Stein’s partnership with MIE went well beyond his love for Mexico and his profession. He was a huge supporter of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and truly believed in and enjoyed helping other human beings. With his talented Plastic surgeon skills, Ken has worked with MIE in conducting needed surgeries on many Men, Women and Children that local Mexican doctors could not assist due to deformities or disease. Ken’s medical talents and amazing human nature, contagious smile and love for life is what we celebrate as we remember a gifted doctor, partner and a great friend.
